At the high-power end of the Kinetix 5100 family, the Allen-Bradley 2198-E4150-ERS is a 400V-class single-axis servo drive that converts the machine’s three-phase supply into controlled motor output. The drive occupies one physical axis position between the EtherNet/IP controller and the connected servo motor, so command data, feedback and motor power remain tied to the same complete catalog number.
Inside an Allen-Bradley 2198-E4150-ERS installation, the mains terminals and U/V/W motor terminals carry the energy path while a separate 24V input supports the control electronics. Network traffic, field I/O, primary motor feedback, auxiliary feedback and hardwired safe-torque-off wiring enter through dedicated interfaces, keeping low-voltage control and feedback connections distinct from the motor-power circuit.

The Allen-Bradley 2198-E4150-ERS separates controller traffic, field signals and position feedback across dedicated connectors so each signal type enters the drive through its intended route.
PORT 1 and PORT 2 are the RJ45 network interfaces used to place the drive in linear, ring or star EtherNet/IP layouts.
The I/O terminal expansion block receives discrete machine signals without combining them with the controller network connection.
The MFB connection carries primary motor feedback, while AUX provides a separate path for an auxiliary feedback device.
The display, navigation keys, MOD/NET/CHARGE indicators and Mini-USB connection provide local status and configuration access at the drive face.
The Allen-Bradley 2198-E4150-ERS requires the regenerative-energy path, hardwired safety circuit and installation accessories to be planned around this drive size before the axis is energized.
Because this drive has no internal shunt, regenerated DC-bus energy is routed through external hardware. Compatible resistor families include 2198-R031, 2198-R004, 2097-R6 and 2097-R7 when the resistance and cabinet design match the axis.
The STO connector belongs to the machine’s hardwired safe-torque-off circuit. Its wiring remains separate from standard I/O and EtherNet/IP command traffic.
The 2198-GPFRM7 ground plate matches this frame, while 2198-TBIO and 2198-CONKIT-STO provide the I/O terminal block and replacement STO connector hardware.
Confirm the complete drive catalog number, supply class, motor cable, feedback route, STO wiring and external shunt selection together; one matched connection does not validate the remaining axis circuits.
The 2198-E4150-ERS belongs to the 400V Kinetix 5100 drive family, but the voltage class alone is not enough to complete a selection. Match the axis load, motor, feedback device, braking arrangement and controller architecture before the full catalog number is placed on an enquiry.
No. The 24V circuit supports the control electronics, while the three-phase input feeds the power conversion path that produces motor output. Both circuits therefore need separate wiring and protection in the panel design.
The 2198-E4150-ERS does not contain an internal shunt resistor, so regenerative energy cannot be handled by an internal braking element. Select the external resistor and its enclosure around the permitted resistance, regenerated energy and heat-dissipation conditions of the axis.
No. PORT 1 and PORT 2 form the network interface for one physical drive axis; they are not separate motor-output channels. Their two-port arrangement supports network topology and pass-through connection around the drive.
Keep the primary MFB route and the auxiliary AUX route aligned with the actual feedback device and connector kit. The motor identity, feedback type, cable and drive configuration must describe the same axis before motion is enabled.
Use the complete mounting envelope rather than only the drive body outline. Leave workable room for the I/O expansion block, feedback flying lead or connector kit, power terminals, cable bend radii, external shunt wiring and cooling airflow.
Moore Automation supplies automation and control products through an enquiry process that keeps the requested manufacturer and complete catalog number attached to quotation, order handling and shipment communication.
