Allen-Bradley 2097-V34PR3 Kinetix 300 Servo Drive

2097-V34PR3Allen-Bradley Kinetix 300 EtherNet/IP Indexing Servo Drive

Three-phase motion control · 1.00 kW continuous output · safe-torque-off input

Product Description

The Allen-Bradley 2097-V34PR3 is a Kinetix 300 EtherNet/IP indexing servo drive built for 480 V-class, three-phase systems. Its power stage converts the incoming AC supply into controlled motor output rated at 1.00 kW continuous, while the drive coordinates indexing commands, motor feedback, I/O status, and a safe-torque-off input within one Bulletin 2097 unit.

Inside a control cabinet, 2097-V34PR3 keeps mains, motor, shunt, and contactor conductors apart from the low-level feedback, I/O, and EtherNet/IP paths. The model has no integrated AC line filter, so installations that require external filtering use the 2097-F5 rear-mount filter; a separate 20…26 V DC backup input can maintain the control section independently of the motor-power stage.

Configuration and Programming

The embedded MotionView OnBoard interface gives 2097-V34PR3 one configuration path for drive identification, onboard index sequences, and firmware-based homing.

01

Drive identity setup

MotionView lists the node address for 2097-V34PR3 and displays its IP address, operating status, catalog number, and firmware revision. The same identification view accepts a user-defined drive name and group ID for organizing multiple axes.

02

Onboard index sequence

2097-V34PR3 can store as many as 32 indexes configured through MotionView or EtherNet/IP explicit messages. Before execution, the drive validates the index table and blocks the sequence with a fault when an entry contains an invalid value.

Homing state control

The firmware-based homing function in 2097-V34PR3 can reference travel limits, a dedicated home switch, the motor index pulse, or the feedback zero reference. Homing Active and Homed status bits distinguish a running sequence from a completed reference.

Active / Homed

System Integration

Control-path separation, conductor zoning, and lifecycle planning all affect how 2097-V34PR3 joins the rest of the motion system.

Control path

Command, feedback, and safety roles

EtherNet/IP carries indexing commands and drive status for 2097-V34PR3, while motor position returns through the dedicated feedback connector and the safe-torque-off circuit remains separate from normal motion commands.

Electrical

Signal and power zoning

Route feedback, I/O, EtherNet/IP, and DC-filter wiring for 2097-V34PR3 through the clean zone; place mains, motor, contactor, and shunt conductors in the dirty zone.

Lifecycle

Engineering replacement boundary

The suggested successor to 2097-V34PR3 is 2198-E4007-ERS, but migration requires a fresh check of sizing, dimensions, interconnects, cables, communication, and accessories.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can 2097-V34PR3 not be supplied from a 240 V single-phase circuit?
2097-V34PR3 is the 480 V-class, three-phase member of the Kinetix 300 family and requires 320…528 V AC at its main input. A lower-voltage Bulletin 2097 catalog number can have a different input arrangement, so the shared family name does not make its supply interchangeable with 2097-V34PR3.
The display and network are active on 2097-V34PR3, but the motor produces no torque—what should be checked?
The 20…26 V DC backup input can keep the control section of 2097-V34PR3 powered while the three-phase input or DC bus is unavailable. Confirm main AC power and bus status, then check the safe-torque-off inputs, drive enable state, and active fault code before investigating the motor connection.
Which line filter is used with 2097-V34PR3 when external AC filtering is required?
2097-V34PR3 does not contain an integrated AC line filter; the associated three-phase rear-mount filter is 2097-F5. Cabinet planning must include the filter footprint and the additional 48 mm rear depth rather than assuming the filtering is inside 2097-V34PR3.
How should regenerative overvoltage on 2097-V34PR3 be investigated before adding a shunt?
For 2097-V34PR3, compare the returned motor energy and duty cycle with the internal shunt behavior: the shunt turns on at 780 V DC and turns off at 750 V DC, while the overvoltage level is 850 V DC. If an external resistor is required, 2097-R7 is the specified passive shunt for this drive class, and its resistance, continuous power, peak power, and duty limit must all fit the motion profile.
Why should the feedback and motor-power cables of 2097-V34PR3 leave the cabinet through different wiring zones?
The feedback, I/O, EtherNet/IP, and DC-filter paths of 2097-V34PR3 belong in the clean zone, while motor power, mains power, contactors, and shunt wiring belong in the dirty zone. Maintaining that separation reduces coupling from high-current switching conductors into the low-level feedback and communication signals used by 2097-V34PR3.
Can 2198-E4007-ERS replace 2097-V34PR3 without changing wiring or configuration?
No. Rockwell Automation identifies 2198-E4007-ERS as an engineering replacement for 2097-V34PR3, which means the migration must review sizing, dimensions, interconnects, cables, communication, and accessories. The replacement has different continuous and peak current values, so 2097-V34PR3 should not be treated as a drop-in wiring template.
