Allen-Bradley 1394C-SJT05-A / 1394C-SJT10-A / 1394C-SJT22-A are Series C 1394 analog-servo system modules, not SERCOS modules. The -A suffix provides a traditional ±10 V DC analog reference interface for velocity or torque control, with SCANport available as a standard system interface. A Human Interface Module can be used for commissioning, auto tuning, and start-up prompting.
Three-phase 324–528 V AC enters 1394C-SJT05-A / 1394C-SJT10-A / 1394C-SJT22-A, and the system module creates the 530/680 V DC bus used by connected 1394 axis modules. The SJT05, SJT10, and SJT22 codes set 4/5 kW, 8/10 kW, and 17/22 kW continuous bus-power levels, respectively. The bus then supplies individual axis modules rather than connecting directly to the motors.
The system boundary grows across 1394C-SJT05-A / 1394C-SJT10-A / 1394C-SJT22-A: AC input current rises from 6.5 A to 13.0 A and 28.6 A, and the 22 kW model requires an external shunt because it has no internal shunt resistor. Analog reference, encoder feedback, logic power, DC-bus distribution, and motor output must remain distinct circuits. Series C also adds active soft-start current limiting during DC-link charging.

1394C-SJT05-A / 1394C-SJT10-A / 1394C-SJT22-A sit at the power and control head of a 1394 analog-servo system and feed the attached axis-module chain.
The -A system accepts a traditional ±10 V DC command for velocity or torque control rather than a SERCOS fiber-ring command.
The system module converts the three-phase line input into the 530/680 V DC bus distributed to the axis modules.
Logic power, analog references, encoder-related signals, axis-module power, and motor wiring remain separate while the system module coordinates faults and enable behavior.
The input and branch-protection calculation must use 6.5 A, 13.0 A, or 28.6 A for the installed SJT05, SJT10, or SJT22 module.
Series C SJT05 and SJT10 include an internal 200 W continuous shunt; SJT22 has no internal shunt and uses the specified external shunt module.
System and axis status LEDs, current monitoring, thermal-overload detection, and feedback-signal monitoring provide separate diagnostic evidence during commissioning.
No. The -A suffix identifies the 1394 analog-servo system with a traditional ±10 V DC reference for velocity or torque control. The SERCOS system-module suffix is -D, so the interface letter must not be omitted from identification. This requirement covers 1394C-SJT05-A / 1394C-SJT10-A / 1394C-SJT22-A.
For equipment identified as 1394C-SJT05-A / 1394C-SJT10-A / 1394C-SJT22-A, calculate the total continuous and peak demand of the connected axis modules and motors, then select the system module whose DC-bus power and current limits cover that combination. The three choices provide 4/5, 8/10, and 17/22 kW continuous output.
1394C-SJT22-A has no internal shunt resistor, while the Series C 5 kW and 10 kW system modules include a 200 W continuous internal shunt. The 22 kW installation therefore uses the specified external shunt module and associated fan/power wiring. The models covered are 1394C-SJT05-A / 1394C-SJT10-A / 1394C-SJT22-A.
Regarding 1394C-SJT05-A / 1394C-SJT10-A / 1394C-SJT22-A, add the continuous and peak demand of the installed axis modules and compare that total with the selected 4/5 kW, 8/10 kW, or 17/22 kW system-module boundary. The calculation must also include the applicable DC-bus current, capacitance, and regenerative arrangement rather than relying on the number of connected axes.
No. The analog reference and encoder-related signals are low-level circuits and should be routed and shielded separately from AC input, DC bus, shunt, and motor-output conductors to prevent electrical noise from entering the command path. This distinction applies to 1394C-SJT05-A / 1394C-SJT10-A / 1394C-SJT22-A.
Within 1394C-SJT05-A / 1394C-SJT10-A / 1394C-SJT22-A, record the complete -A catalog number, Series C designation, connected axis modules, total bus load, input voltage, shunt arrangement, logic-power source, analog command mode, and stored parameters. Matching only the 1394 family name is insufficient.
