Tricon digital input hardware
64 commoned points · three-channel input processing · Tricon v9-v11 systems
The Triconex 3564 is a 24 VDC single digital input module for Tricon v9-v11 systems. Its 64 commoned input points accept discrete states from field contacts and sensors, then deliver those states to the controller so the control program can evaluate plant conditions.
For every connected point, the Triconex 3564 conditions the field voltage through threshold detection and optical isolation before three independent intelligent I/O controller channels read the result. Each channel has its own input multiplexer, microprocessor, memory, and bus transceiver, so the conditioned state travels separately over the A, B, and C legs of the triplicated I/O bus.
Unlike a TMR digital input module, the Triconex 3564 uses a single field input circuit feeding those three processing channels. The module is intended for safety-critical service where lower hardware cost is prioritized over the maximum availability of a TMR input, and a hot-spare module can be fitted when the control program is prepared for a possible brief Off report during changeover.

A field contact connected to the 3564 does not feed the controller bus directly. The module first establishes a clean, isolated input state and then gives the same conditioned point to three separately controlled processing paths.
The IN and RTN path passes through threshold detection and an opto-isolator. The return is common to all 64 points, while each point keeps its own input-state path.
Three input multiplexers feed three microprocessors. Each controller channel maintains its own processing and memory path instead of sharing one processor result.
Separate bus transceivers place the three processed results onto the A, B, and C legs of the triplicated I/O bus for transfer into the Tricon system.
The 3564 supervises the input circuit with optically isolated test relays and completes its diagnostic sequence every 500 ms. The resulting status is separated into point-level indications and module-level operating indications.
Test ON and Test OFF relays exercise the point circuitry so a contact path that remains forced On or Off can be detected without using the normal field state as the only check.
When the diagnostic logic identifies a point fault, the affected input is reported Off. A hot-spare changeover can also produce a brief Off report, so the control program must handle that transition where a momentary state change matters.
Individual indicators show the On/Off state of points 1 through 64. Pass, Fault, Active, and Power indicators provide a separate view of the module's operating condition.
No. Triconex 3564 has a single field input circuit feeding three processing channels, while a TMR input module uses redundant input circuitry to provide a different availability profile. Confirm the module type, termination hardware, slot plan, and control-program response before treating any TMR model as an interchangeable part.
Triconex 3564 uses an Off result as its fail-safe response when point diagnostics identify a fault. A hot-spare switch-over can also create a brief Off report, so logic that reacts to short state changes should be reviewed before the spare is placed in service.
Measure the field voltage across the assigned IN and RTN path and confirm that the common return is intact before moving the wiring. If the field level reaches the expected input range, compare the point indicator with the module Pass, Fault, Active, and Power indicators to separate a point-wiring issue from a module condition.
The input diagnostic limit allows the field state to toggle no faster than once every 100 ms. If the field source changes more quickly, verify that both the process logic and the diagnostic behavior remain suitable instead of assuming that every transition will be supervised in the same way.
Use the numbered point indicator to check the state of the specific input and use the Pass, Fault, Active, and Power indicators for the overall module. A single dark point LED with normal module indicators directs the check toward the field circuit, while a module status change calls for a broader slot and system check.
Record every point number, its field source, the shared RTN connection, and the actual input voltage before disconnecting conductors. Also retain the slot and termination-hardware identification so the 64 commoned inputs are not reassigned by position alone during the move.

Moore Automation checks product condition, identification labels, and supplied accessories before packing. Inspection findings remain connected to the order record so the dispatched item can be traced to the same confirmed requirement.
One-year warranty coverage is linked to the corresponding order record. Packing is reviewed before carrier handoff to protect the product and keep its identification visible through shipment.
