Horner HE800COS600 CANOpen Slave Module

Product Overview

The HE800COS600 is a CANOpen Slave communication module from the Horner Automation SmartStack I/O series. It provides CANOpen network slave functionality for OCS, RCS, and TIU controllers, allowing the host controller to operate as a slave node on a CANOpen network.

The module exchanges data and commands with the host controller through a dual-port RAM interface on the SmartStack backplane. It supports synchronous telegrams (PDOs), asynchronous telegrams (SDOs), Life-Guard telegrams, Sync telegrams, and Emergency telegrams for comprehensive CANOpen communication.

Configuration is performed via the RS232 serial port on the module using HSyCon software. The OCS/TIU must be configured first, otherwise the SmartStack module will be held in reset and cannot be configured.

Configuration & Installation

The HE800COS600 is configured through HSyCon software for CANOpen network settings. The module uses a dual-port RAM interface to exchange data and commands with the host controller.

The SmartStack module should be configured with the OCS/TIU first, otherwise it will be held in reset and cannot be configured. The Auto Config function will report the presence of the module but cannot assign the amount of I/O required; the user must do this manually.

To configure the required I/O, use the Controller > I/O Configure menu. A maximum of four SmartStack modules can be installed per OCS, RCS, or TIU. Do not install or remove a SmartStack module while the power is on.

FAQ

What is the difference between the HE800COS600 and the HE800COM650?
The HE800COS600 is a CANOpen Slave module, allowing the host controller to operate as a slave node. The HE800COM650 is a CANOpen Master module for controlling the network. Both use the same SmartStack platform.
What software is required to configure the HE800COS600?
HSyCon software is used for CANOpen network configuration. Cscape or Cbreeze handles application-level register mapping for OCS/RCS and TIU platforms respectively.
What telegram types does the HE800COS600 support?
The HE800COS600 supports synchronous telegrams (PDOs), asynchronous telegrams (SDOs), Life-Guard telegrams, Sync telegrams, and Emergency telegrams.
How many SmartStack modules can be installed on a single OCS/TIU?
A maximum of four SmartStack modules can be installed per OCS, RCS, or TIU. Do not install or remove modules while the unit is powered on.
What are the PC system requirements for configuring the HE800COS600?
Configuration requires a PC with 486 or Pentium processor or higher, Windows 95/98/ME or NT/2000/XP, 30–80 Mbytes disk space, minimum 16 Mbytes RAM, and 800 x 600 pixel display resolution.
