Horner HE800DNM650 DeviceNet Master Module

Product Overview

The HE800DNM650 is a DeviceNet Master communication module from the Horner Automation SmartStack I/O series. It controls communication between an OCS or TIU host controller and up to 63 DeviceNet slave devices on a 2-wire RS485 network.

The module supports Poll, Bit-Strobe, Cyclic, Change-of-State, and Explicit messaging via Class 2 connections, with UCMM capability through Group 1, 2, and 3 messaging and fragmented message support for large transfers. Data is exchanged with the host controller through a dual-port RAM interface, with up to 256 bytes of input and 256 bytes of output per slave.

Configuration is performed through the RS232 serial port using HSyCon software, while register mapping is handled in Cscape or Cbreeze. The register count in Cscape must match the count set in HSyCon for correct operation.

Connectivity & Pin Configuration

The HE800DNM650 connects to the DeviceNet network through a 5-pin screw terminal. Pin 1 is VIn, Pin 2 is RXD/TXD-P, Pin 3 is Shield, Pin 4 is RXD/TXD-N, and Pin 5 is DGND.

Fieldbus data registers are mapped through a dual-port RAM interface. Input and output data must be configured as contiguous blocks in the OCS controller.

The module mounts onto an OCS or TIU controller through the SmartStack expansion interface. The register count in the OCS must match the configuration set in HSyCon.

FAQ

How many DeviceNet slave devices can the HE800DNM650 support on a single network?
The HE800DNM650 supports up to 63 slave devices. Each slave can exchange up to 256 bytes of input and 256 bytes of output data with the master module.
What software is required to configure the HE800DNM650 DeviceNet Master Module?
HSyCon software handles the DeviceNet interface settings, while register mapping is configured through Cscape or Cbreeze. HSyCon communicates with the module via its RS232 serial port.
Can the HE800DNM650 perform explicit messaging for device parameter access?
Yes. Explicit Messaging via Class 2 connections allows reading and writing device parameters and accessing configuration objects on slave devices. UCMM support is also provided.
What are the power requirements for the HE800DNM650 module?
The module requires 1.5W at steady state, drawing 300mA at 5VDC. Inrush power is negligible. Operating range is 0° to 55° Celsius and 5 to 95% non-condensing humidity.
How does the HE800DNM650 integrate with an OCS controller for data exchange?
The module mounts onto an OCS or TIU controller via the SmartStack expansion interface. Data is exchanged through a dual-port RAM, and the register count in the OCS must match the HSyCon configuration.
