FormatFrame A / B

Product Overview

Allen-Bradley 25B-B011N104 and 25B-B017N104 are 200…240 V three-phase PowerFlex 525 AC drives that control induction-motor output from local, hardwired or EtherNet/IP commands. 25B-B011N104 supplies 11.0 A for a 3 HP motor, while 25B-B017N104 supplies 17.5 A for a 5 HP motor.

The higher output changes the mechanical arrangement of 25B-B011N104 and 25B-B017N104: 25B-B011N104 uses Frame A and 25B-B017N104 uses Frame B. Their R/L1–T/L3 input terminals feed the internal DC link and inverter, while U/T1–W/T3 carry the controlled output to the motor; frame-specific conductor limits and clearances apply at both ends.

Embedded EtherNet/IP and Safe Torque Off add separate control paths to 25B-B011N104 and 25B-B017N104. EtherNet/IP carries commands and status, whereas the S1 and S2 safety inputs interrupt gate-control power without disconnecting the AC line or stored DC-bus voltage.

Installation Highlights

25B-B011N104 and 25B-B017N104 require different enclosure layouts because the 11.0 A drive is Frame A and the 17.5 A drive is Frame B.

Frame-specific space

Clearance, wiring bend space and enclosure depth are checked against the installed Frame A or Frame B unit.

Vertical airflow

Both drives mount vertically so cooling air can enter and leave through the intended openings.

Terminal preparation

Power conductors must fit the selected frame terminal range and every terminal screw must be tightened to its specified torque.

Safety and Compliance

The Safe Torque Off circuit in 25B-B011N104 and 25B-B017N104 uses two safety inputs to remove gate-control power from the output stage.

Two-channel enable

S1 and S2 must both be in the enabled state before the inverter can produce motor torque.

Torque removal

Opening either channel disables the gate-control circuit and produces the configured safe-torque-off response.

Electrical isolation

Safe Torque Off does not isolate line or DC-bus voltage, so incoming power must be disconnected before electrical work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which frame belongs to each of 25B-B011N104 / 25B-B017N104?

25B-B011N104 is Frame A, while 25B-B017N104 is Frame B. The frame change affects enclosure dimensions and terminal limits.

Must enclosure space be checked separately for 25B-B011N104 / 25B-B017N104?

Yes. Apply the clearances and ventilation requirements to the actual installed frame rather than treating both ratings as mechanically identical.

How do the STO channels operate on 25B-B011N104 / 25B-B017N104?

Both S1 and S2 must reach their operating state for output gate control to be enabled. Removing either channel disables torque-producing output.

What should be examined before resetting a safety fault on 25B-B011N104 / 25B-B017N104?

Trace both safety-channel circuits and verify that their states change within the permitted timing. Correct the cause before issuing a reset.

Which terminals carry dynamic-braking connections on 25B-B011N104 / 25B-B017N104?

The power terminal block identifies BR+ and BR− for the dynamic brake resistor circuit. The brake IGBT is included in both catalog configurations.

Why should terminal torque be rechecked before energizing 25B-B011N104 / 25B-B017N104?

Power-terminal screws can loosen during shipment. Tighten them to the documented value for the applicable frame before power is applied.
