KINETIX 5100 · 200V CLASS SERVO DRIVE
Allen-Bradley 2198-E2055-ERS is a Kinetix 5100 servo drive for a single machine axis in the family’s low-voltage class. It turns controller motion commands into closed-loop motor operation while remaining a distinct variant from similarly numbered high-voltage drives.
Allen-Bradley 2198-E2055-ERS anchors a higher-output axis in the Kinetix 5100 low-voltage class. Its full model identity keeps the controller project, motor cable set, feedback devices and regenerative hardware attached to the same installed drive instead of borrowing assumptions from a similarly numbered high-voltage variant.

The drive keeps energy conversion, control electronics and controller communication on distinct circuits that can be checked independently.
Route the machine supply to the drive power stage and reserve the motor terminals exclusively for the controlled inverter output.
Supply the control electronics through the dedicated control-power connection so it is not confused with the motor-energy path.
Carry axis commands and status over EtherNet/IP while keeping that network isolated from power and feedback conductors.
Position feedback and regenerated energy return through different paths even though both are associated with the same motor axis.
Connect the primary motor encoder to MFB and verify direction and recognition before enabling torque.
Assign supported secondary feedback to AUX only when the control configuration uses that additional measurement.
Complete the external passive-shunt connection so deceleration energy does not rely on the feedback or motor-output wiring.
2198-E2055-ERS uses 170...253 V rms three-phase AC for the power stage and a separate 24 V DC control-power input. Confirm both supply paths before connecting the motor output or EtherNet/IP network.
Use the 41.3 A rms continuous and 91.4 A rms peak output limits with the motor selection. The 5.5 kW family label alone does not replace the current check for the chosen axis.
2198-E2055-ERS uses the external passive-shunt arrangement. Plan the energy-handling connection as an external circuit instead of assuming an internal resistor is available.
Connect motor feedback at the 15-pin MFB connector and auxiliary feedback at the separate 10-pin AUX connector. Identify the feedback type before cable termination because the connectors serve different functions.
The drive uses two 10/100 Mbps RJ45 EtherNet/IP ports and supports linear, ring and star topologies. This network route carries controller communication, while the motor is powered from the U, V and W terminals.
Allow the 300 mm minimum recommended cabinet depth and include the 328.5 W full-load power-loss value in the enclosure assessment. These values should be considered together with the external-shunt hardware.
Our advantageous brands include Allen-Bradley, Bently Nevada, Honeywell, ABB, Siemens, Emerson, Schneider Electric, Yokogawa, HIMA and GE Fanuc.
