MICRONET · SEMI-ISOLATED INPUT · HIGH TEMPERATURE
8 CHANNELS · 3-WIRE RTD · VMEbus INTERFACE
Woodward 5464-340 is a MicroNet semi-isolated RTD 100 high-temperature input module for the MicroNet Simplex and MicroNet Plus control systems. Its primary duty is to receive resistance signals from 100 ohm platinum RTDs and deliver linearized temperature values to the control application.
Across Woodward 5464-340, eight semi-isolated channels accept three-wire RTD connections. Each channel is isolated from the control common but not from the other channels; the module supplies the RTD excitation, converts the measured signal and presents the resulting temperature in degrees Celsius through its VMEbus interface.
The field path for Woodward 5464-340 therefore combines the RTD element, the three-wire termination and the module channel assigned in the MicroNet system. European-curve and American-curve 100 ohm platinum elements use different high-temperature limits, so the RTD curve, software selection, shielding and channel wiring must remain consistent with the installed input.

Woodward 5464-340 turns the resistance response of each connected platinum RTD into a temperature value that the MicroNet control can use.
A 2 mA excitation is applied to the connected 100 ohm platinum element so the channel can read its resistance response.
The module processes the RTD response and applies the selected curve relationship so the control receives a temperature value in degrees Celsius.
The converted value passes through the module interface to the MicroNet application, while the channel LED reports a channel or board fault condition.
The integration path of Woodward 5464-340 is defined by its RTD terminals, channel grouping, control-common isolation and VMEbus connection.
Each of the eight channels receives a three-wire RTD connection; the field wiring must preserve the channel assignment used by the MicroNet application.
The input channels are isolated from the control common but share no channel-to-channel isolation, so adjacent RTD wiring must not be treated as independently floating.
After conversion, the linearized temperature values move from the input module through the VMEbus interface to the MicroNet control system.
Which RTD connection does Woodward 5464-340 require at the field termination?
Use a three-wire 100 ohm platinum RTD connection for Woodward 5464-340 and keep the three conductors on the assigned channel terminals. Confirm the European or American curve in the application configuration before energizing the input.
How does Woodward 5464-340 separate a channel from the control electronics?
Woodward 5464-340 isolates its input channels from the control common, but the channels are not isolated from one another. Route the channel wiring with that shared channel-to-channel reference in mind rather than treating each input as a separate floating circuit.
What changes when Woodward 5464-340 uses the European RTD curve?
The European-curve high-temperature limit for Woodward 5464-340 is -40 to +645 °C, while the American curve is limited to -40 to +450 °C. The curve selected in software must match the installed 100 ohm platinum RTD.
What should be checked if one Woodward 5464-340 channel reports a fault?
Start with the three-wire termination, cable shielding and the selected RTD curve for that channel. Then check the red channel or board fault indication and compare the channel reading with the configured MicroNet input before changing the module.
How does Woodward 5464-340 deliver temperature data to the controller?
Woodward 5464-340 excites the RTD, converts the resistance response with its 14-bit converter and outputs a linearized temperature in degrees Celsius. The converted value reaches the MicroNet application through the VMEbus interface.
Can the channels of Woodward 5464-340 be wired as independently isolated inputs?
No. Woodward 5464-340 provides isolation from the control common, not between individual channels. Keep the channel return and shield arrangement consistent with the shared channel reference and the field-termination wiring.
