GE Fanuc IC600PM500 / IC600PM502 Series Six AC Power Supplies
Series Six AC Power Conversion

GE Fanuc IC600PM500 / IC600PM502 Series Six AC Power Supplies

Two 115/230 Vac Series Six power supplies for different rack roles: processor power and standard I/O rack power.

IC600PM500CPU/DPU ac power supply
IC600PM502Standard-capacity I/O rack ac power supply

Product Description

IC600PM500 and IC600PM502 are GE Fanuc Series Six ac-input power supplies, but they belong to different rack positions. IC600PM500 is the CPU/DPU power supply used with processor hardware. IC600PM502 is the standard-capacity I/O rack power supply used to energize Series Six I/O modules.

Both are associated with 115/230 Vac installations, so the incoming line selection, protective earth and branch protection must be verified before power is applied. The shared voltage family does not make the units interchangeable because their mechanical integration, front-panel controls and backplane duties differ.

For replacement work, record the rack type, complete supply catalog number and revision, line-voltage arrangement, terminal conductors and the installed module load. A standard I/O rack supply must not be assumed to support a high-capacity rack configuration without a complete load calculation.

Rack Power Functions

IC600PM502 Standard I/O Power-Supply Front-Panel Terminal Block · click to enlarge

IC600PM500 powers a CPU or DPU rack and incorporates the operator controls associated with processor run/stop and memory protection.

IC600PM502 is integrated with a standard I/O rack and supplies the logic rails required by the installed I/O modules.

Each rack must be assessed independently: processor-board loading and I/O-module loading are not the same calculation.

The ac line selection, fuse or circuit-breaker state and power indication should be part of the acceptance check after replacement.

Installation and Load Verification

Identify the rack

Confirm whether the supply belongs to a CPU/DPU rack or a standard I/O rack before selecting IC600PM500 or IC600PM502.

Record line wiring

Capture line-voltage selection, protective earth, terminal order and branch protection with all power removed.

Check the load

Total the installed module load units and verify that the correct rack capacity is available before energizing the supply.

Restore in stages

Apply power with controlled outputs, confirm the power indication and dc-rail stability, then verify CPU or I/O operation.

Product FAQ

Can IC600PM500 replace IC600PM502 because both use 115/230 Vac?

No. IC600PM500 is a CPU/DPU supply; IC600PM502 is the standard I/O rack supply. Their rack integration and control functions differ.

What should be recorded before removing IC600PM500 or IC600PM502?

Record the exact supply revision, rack identity, line-voltage selection, terminal conductors, grounding and installed module load.

Why is a load calculation required for IC600PM502?

The standard I/O rack has a defined load-unit capacity. The installed I/O combination must remain within that capacity.

Which front-panel controls distinguish IC600PM500?

The CPU/DPU supply includes processor-related RUN/STOP and MEMORY PROTECT key-switch functions in addition to power control and indication.

How should IC600PM500 or IC600PM502 be accepted after replacement?

Check protective earth and line selection, confirm stable power indication and dc rails, then prove the CPU or every affected I/O rack point in a safe state.
