NONVOLATILE PROGRAM TRANSFER
A removable nonvolatile program module for SLC 100 and SLC 150 controllers.
Allen-Bradley 1745-M1 is a nonvolatile EEPROM memory module for SLC 100 and SLC 150 programmable controllers. It occupies the processor-unit EEPROM compartment and stores a controller program outside the processor RAM.
The 1745-M1 supports store and load operations between processor RAM and EEPROM. The module has a write-on identification area, and insertion or removal is performed only with processor power off.
For an SLC 150 processor, 1745-M1 must be Series B or a Series A module with a 28-pin chip. The same physical module can fit SLC 100 and SLC 150 processors, but the stored program must remain identified with its controller because the two controller families differ in internal addresses and other program details.

With an SLC 100, an access code on 1745-M1 requires the programmer for loading; automatic loading does not bypass that code.
With an SLC 150, automatic loading is permitted when the EEPROM access code matches the processor access code.
An EEPROM without an access code can auto-load into an SLC 150 whether or not the processor itself has a code.
With an SLC 100, power-up with 1745-M1 installed duplicates the EEPROM contents into RAM and erases the previous RAM program when access-code conditions permit.
It is a nonvolatile EEPROM module for storing, loading or automatically loading an SLC 100 or SLC 150 program.
It supports up to 1200 words, matching the documented SLC 150 program capacity. Verify the actual project size before storing.
The module itself does not protect a technician from loading the correct file into the wrong controller. Record the machine, controller family and revision.
Do not interchange them. The families use different internal address assignments even though the EEPROM hardware is shared.
The manual notes compatibility requirements around the 28-pin device. Verify the controller hardware and publication procedure before installation.
Only when the documented recovery strategy requires the controller to reload the EEPROM program automatically. Otherwise it can restore an outdated file unexpectedly.
