Schneider Electric / SCADAPack I/O Expansion

Schneider Electric TBUX297319 Analog Input Module

Model 5506 eight-channel analog input expansion module for current and voltage signals in SCADAPack systems.

Lifecycle statusActive Product Commercial statusNot Discontinued

Product Overview

Eight configurable analog inputs for SCADAPack systems

Schneider Electric TBUX297319 is the Model 5506 analog input module. It adds eight single-ended analog inputs to the SCADAPack I/O system for high-level current and voltage signals. The supported ranges are 0-20 mA, 4-20 mA, 0-5 V and 1-5 V.

In native 5506 operation, each channel is configured individually for current or voltage. The module uses a 16-bit A/D converter and returns converted input data as a signed 15-bit value. Eight red LEDs indicate voltage or current configuration and out-of-range input conditions.

Operating Functions

Channel-level configuration and signal handling

Individual channel setup

Each input can be configured for 0-5 V, 1-5 V, 0-20 mA or 4-20 mA operation in native 5506 mode.

0% and 20% input offset

The module supports 0% offset for 0-20 mA or 0-5 V measurement and 20% offset for 4-20 mA or 1-5 V measurement.

Configurable filtering

Analog filtering is applied per input, and the input scan frequency can be set for 50 Hz or 60 Hz operation.

Input status reporting

Status information identifies whether each configured input is within or outside its defined signal range.

Local LED indication

The eight LEDs indicate current or voltage configuration and signal under-range or over-range conditions.

Factory calibration

The module is factory calibrated and does not require periodic calibration. Schneider Electric specifies factory calibration following damage repair.

Installation Highlights

Native 5506 operation and field wiring

NATIVE 5506 MODE

Mixed current and voltage channels

Inputs are configured individually, so current and voltage channels can be used in the same module. The official manual states that SCADAPack E controllers use 5506 operation.

FIELD CONNECTIONS

Standard transmitter arrangements

The hardware manual provides wiring examples for loop-powered 20 mA transmitters, self-powered 20 mA transmitters and self-powered 5 V transmitters.

FAQ

Schneider Electric TBUX297319 technical questions

How many analog inputs does Schneider Electric TBUX297319 provide?

TBUX297319, Model 5506, provides eight single-ended analog inputs with a common return.

Which current and voltage ranges are supported by TBUX297319?

The official specifications list 0-20 mA, 4-20 mA, 0-5 V and 1-5 V input ranges.

Can current and voltage inputs be mixed on the same Model 5506?

Yes. In native 5506 operation, each channel is configured individually, allowing current and voltage inputs to be mixed in one module.

What power connections are required for TBUX297319?

The isolated analog input circuitry requires an external 11-30 Vdc supply. The digital circuitry receives 5 V through the system I/O bus.

Does Schneider Electric TBUX297319 require periodic calibration?

No. The official hardware manual states that the module is factory calibrated and does not require periodic calibration. Calibration after damage repair is performed electronically at the factory.
