Bently Nevada · Machinery monitoring hardware
Two 24701 housings with different probe-lead and penetration records but the same stainless-steel enclosure family.
Bently Nevada 24701-28-10-XX-149-03-XX MOD:323933-00-02 / 24701-28-05-XX-104-03-XX MOD:323933-00-02 combines two 24701 stainless-steel proximity probe housing configurations. Option A code 28 selects a 3300 XL 8 mm probe with approval option in both records, and the housing holds the reverse-mounted sensing tip at the specified penetration.
The cable and penetration selections differ inside Bently Nevada 24701-28-10-XX-149-03-XX MOD:323933-00-02 / 24701-28-05-XX-104-03-XX MOD:323933-00-02. Option B code 10 provides a 1.0 m cable and Option D code 149 specifies 14.9 in; code 05 provides a 0.5 m cable and code 104 specifies 10.4 in. Both use Option E code 03 with one plug, one reducer and one cable-seal grip.
A 303 stainless-steel body and 304 stainless-steel probe sleeve form the mechanical envelope of Bently Nevada 24701-28-10-XX-149-03-XX MOD:323933-00-02 / 24701-28-05-XX-104-03-XX MOD:323933-00-02. The selected lead length must pass through that envelope without a bend that conflicts with the sleeve or cable-seal route.

The 1.0 m and 0.5 m cable versions must be routed as separate installations because their available lead length and penetration dimensions are different.
Keep the 1.0 m cable with the 14.9 in penetration record and the 0.5 m cable with the 10.4 in record before assembling either housing.
Insert the reverse-mount probe through the selected sleeve, install the O-rings and thread seal, and route the lead through the Option E cable-seal and reducer set without a tight bend.
Support any sleeve for which C plus D exceeds 300 mm, mount the body at the machine case, electrically set the probe gap and close the dome after the cable route is verified.
These 24701 housings place a 3300 XL 8 mm probe outside the machine case while the probe performs the required non-contact shaft measurement.
On fluid-film bearing machines, the housing protects and positions a probe used to measure dynamic shaft vibration relative to the bearing or machine case.
The same externally mounted arrangement can hold the probe for static shaft-position measurements when the target and mounting geometry provide the required linear range.
With the appropriate rotating reference target and matched 3300 XL electronics, the housed 8 mm probe can supply Keyphasor phase-reference or speed information.
For 24701-28-10-XX-149-03-XX MOD:323933-00-02 / 24701-28-05-XX-104-03-XX MOD:323933-00-02, keep the 1.0 m lead with the 149 record and the 0.5 m lead with the 104 record. Plan the conduit route around the actual available slack.
The 149 and 104 fields in 24701-28-10-XX-149-03-XX MOD:323933-00-02 / 24701-28-05-XX-104-03-XX MOD:323933-00-02 specify 14.9 in and 10.4 in Option D penetration dimensions. Each reach must be checked against its own machine case and target location.
Both entries in 24701-28-10-XX-149-03-XX MOD:323933-00-02 / 24701-28-05-XX-104-03-XX MOD:323933-00-02 use fitting code 03, which supplies the plug, cable-seal grip and 3/4-to-1/2 reducer.
Add external support to the sleeve of 24701-28-10-XX-149-03-XX MOD:323933-00-02 / 24701-28-05-XX-104-03-XX MOD:323933-00-02 when the installed stainless-steel reach exceeds 304 mm. Support the sleeve without loading the probe cable.
Before closing 24701-28-10-XX-149-03-XX MOD:323933-00-02 / 24701-28-05-XX-104-03-XX MOD:323933-00-02, inspect the O-rings, thread seal, conduit fittings, lead bend and probe retention as separate parts of the assembly.
The 303 stainless-steel body and 304 stainless-steel sleeve of 24701-28-10-XX-149-03-XX MOD:323933-00-02 / 24701-28-05-XX-104-03-XX MOD:323933-00-02 form the rigid mechanical enclosure around the probe lead and target-facing reach.
