Product Description

A compact variable-speed drive can connect a 200…240 V single-phase cabinet supply to a three-phase motor while retaining an industrial network and safety connection. 25B-A2P5N104, 25B-A4P8N104 and 25B-A8P0N104 are PowerFlex 525 AC drives that occupy this motor-control role in a machine or panel system.

The three drives share the PowerFlex 525 hardware and control architecture: a single-phase AC input feeds the drive power section, which produces adjustable three-phase motor output. Embedded EtherNet/IP and Safety provide the system-facing interface, while the integral keypad, potentiometer and LED display provide local operation at the drive.

Selection changes with the motor load rather than with the shared communications function. 25B-A2P5N104 is the 2.5 A, 0.4 kW member; 25B-A4P8N104 is the 4.8 A, 0.75 kW member; and 25B-A8P0N104 is the 8.0 A, 1.5 kW member. The first two use Frame A, whereas the 1.5 kW model moves to Frame B, changing its cabinet envelope and mass.

All three N104 variants are no-filter, IP20 NEMA / Open Type drives with a Brake IGBT included. This establishes a common configuration boundary for the trio: the drive provides the AC motor-control, network and safety functions, while the surrounding enclosure, external EMC arrangement and motor-specific operating design belong to the wider installation.

Installation Planning

Plan the drive position before panel wiring begins. The mounting surface, ventilation path, terminal access and cable routes should remain accessible after the enclosure is complete; the adjacent engineering drawing is available for reviewing the selected physical outline.

Keep the incoming AC supply, motor leads and low-level control wiring organized as separate routes. Bond the equipment grounding connection before energizing the drive, and leave enough service room to reach the keypad and terminal area without disturbing adjacent wiring.

  • Prepare the vertical mounting position and unrestricted cooling path.
  • Separate supply, motor and control cable routing in the cabinet plan.
  • Keep the front controls and field terminals accessible for service.

Commissioning Workflow

Commission the drive from the connected motor and machine requirements instead of copying parameters from a different installation. Establish the basic local control condition first, then add the networked control and safety configuration required by the system.

  • 1 · Record motor dataEnter the applicable motor nameplate and application settings before a run command is issued.Motor setup
  • 2 · Assign control sourcesSet the intended start/stop, direction and speed-reference sources for the machine sequence.Control setup
  • 3 · Verify the machine runConfirm rotation, response and interlocks at a controlled test condition before normal operation.Functional check

Frequently Asked Questions

A motor retrofit has 200…240 V single-phase supply but a three-phase motor; how do 25B-A2P5N104 / 25B-A4P8N104 / 25B-A8P0N104 fit that power path?

Each of 25B-A2P5N104, 25B-A4P8N104 and 25B-A8P0N104 accepts 200…240 V AC single-phase input and provides 0…230 V AC three-phase motor output. The drive size is then chosen from the required output current and duty rating.

Which current prevents an undersized selection when 25B-A2P5N104 / 25B-A4P8N104 / 25B-A8P0N104 are compared for three different motors?

The output-current figures are 2.5 A for 25B-A2P5N104, 4.8 A for 25B-A4P8N104 and 8.0 A for 25B-A8P0N104. Their normal-duty and heavy-duty ratings are 0.4 kW, 0.75 kW and 1.5 kW respectively.

A narrow enclosure already fits Frame A. What mechanical change occurs when the project moves from 25B-A2P5N104 / 25B-A4P8N104 to 25B-A8P0N104?

25B-A2P5N104 and 25B-A4P8N104 use Frame A at 72 × 152 × 172 mm and approximately 1.1 kg. 25B-A8P0N104 uses Frame B at 87 × 180 × 172 mm and approximately 1.6 kg, so the cabinet footprint and mounting allowance change.

For a panel that needs an EMC-filter decision, what does the N104 suffix retain across 25B-A2P5N104 / 25B-A4P8N104 / 25B-A8P0N104?

25B-A2P5N104, 25B-A4P8N104 and 25B-A8P0N104 are no-filter variants with an IP20 NEMA / Open Type enclosure. The surrounding panel and any required external EMC solution must therefore be selected for the installed application.

How do 25B-A2P5N104 / 25B-A4P8N104 / 25B-A8P0N104 keep a networked drive installation within the same product-function boundary?

All three models combine embedded EtherNet/IP and Safety with the PowerFlex 525 drive function. The exact catalog number still fixes the output-current class and Frame A or Frame B hardware; network capability does not erase the size difference.

When a deceleration application needs a brake circuit, what shared hardware fact applies to 25B-A2P5N104 / 25B-A4P8N104 / 25B-A8P0N104?

25B-A2P5N104, 25B-A4P8N104 and 25B-A8P0N104 each include a Brake IGBT. The selected drive’s current rating, motor duty and deceleration requirement remain the factors that determine the final application design.
