Each channel receives the low-level field voltage selected by its thermocouple or millivolt configuration. Polarity and sensor wiring are preserved through the MTU so the converter works on the intended signal rather than an unintended junction voltage.
The dedicated reference-junction input supplies the terminal-temperature reference used to compensate thermocouple channels. This keeps cold-junction correction separate from the process sensor value and from a plain millivolt measurement.
Converted values, channel status and module diagnostics pass through the S800 I/O station to the controller with channel identity preserved. The controller can therefore associate a bad-sensor indication with the same channel that supplies the process value.
One module can be configured for the documented thermocouple families used by the project. Each channel retains its selected conversion, allowing several supported sensor types to be organized in the same S800 station without treating every input as generic millivolts.
The millivolt mode accepts low-level voltage sources whose engineering conversion is handled in the controller project. This path is used without thermocouple compensation, so cable polarity and the source reference remain the defining wiring checks.
Where the approved architecture uses redundant AI843 channels, corresponding sensors and values are mapped through the documented MTU and project arrangement. Commissioning compares both paths and their diagnostic states before the redundant result is trusted.
