YOKOGAWA · CENTUM ENGINEERING RECORD
Yokogawa AAB141-H50 S1 and Yokogawa AAB842-H50 S1 are non-isolated HART analog modules for CENTUM field control stations. AAB141-H50 S1 accepts sixteen software-selected 1 to 5 V or 4 to 20 mA inputs, while AAB842-H50 S1 combines eight such inputs with eight 4 to 20 mA outputs so one module can serve complete analog loops.
Inside Yokogawa AAB141-H50 S1, each current-input channel passes its analog value and HART variables into the module I/O image for use by the FCS. Yokogawa AAB842-H50 S1 extends that path in both directions: its input half receives transmitter signals, and its output half sends controller commands to current-loop devices while HART communication remains available on both sides.
The non-isolated channel structure of Yokogawa AAB141-H50 S1 and Yokogawa AAB842-H50 S1 requires the common-mode and field-wiring conditions to be checked as part of loop design. The -H50 execution identifies HART capability, no explosion-protection option and the basic environmental treatment.

The two modules convert field-loop signals into FCS process data, but only AAB842-H50 S1 also returns analog commands to the field.
AAB141-H50 S1 samples sixteen selected voltage or current loops. AAB842-H50 S1 performs the same conversion on eight inputs and places the resulting values in its input image.
On AAB842-H50 S1, eight controller output values are converted into 4 to 20 mA loop currents for connected final elements; AAB141-H50 S1 has no output stage.
Both modules pass analog values and HART variables through the module I/O image, allowing the FCS to use process data while device communication remains available.
AAB141-H50 S1 and AAB842-H50 S1 occupy the analog I/O layer between field transmitters or positioners and the CENTUM control functions.
AAB141-H50 S1 connects to transmitter inputs; AAB842-H50 S1 connects to both transmitter inputs and current-output devices, so the terminal plan must distinguish the two directions.
The FCS accesses the module input/output image rather than communicating with each HART device through a separate controller port.
The -H50 code fixes the HART, no-explosion-protection and basic-treatment execution, which must match the node and project environment.
No. Yokogawa AAB141-H50 S1 / AAB842-H50 S1 share input formats, but AAB141-H50 S1 has sixteen inputs while AAB842-H50 S1 has eight inputs and eight outputs; channel direction and terminal allocation must be checked.
For Yokogawa AAB141-H50 S1 / AAB842-H50 S1, the input mode is selected by software for each channel, after the field wiring has been arranged for the intended 1 to 5 V or 4 to 20 mA signal.
On Yokogawa AAB141-H50 S1 / AAB842-H50 S1, first confirm that the channel is in current-input or current-output service, the HART device is directly connected, and the compatible node firmware and FCS configuration are in use.
Only Yokogawa AAB842-H50 S1 has output channels; its 4 to 20 mA loops require a 0 to 750 Ω load. Yokogawa AAB141-H50 S1 has no output load path.
Yokogawa AAB141-H50 S1 / AAB842-H50 S1 must not use a Zener barrier on the affected input; use the documented isolation approach where an intrinsically safe interface is required.
For Yokogawa AAB141-H50 S1 / AAB842-H50 S1, verify the exact -H50 execution, node compatibility, channel mode, loop polarity, common-mode condition and the I/O image assignment before accepting live values.
