A dual-port Series Six communications module supporting independently configured RS-232, RS-422 and Port 1 current-loop interfaces.
IC600BF948 is the GE Fanuc Series Six Input/Output Communications Control Module, commonly identified as the I/O CCM. It creates a serial data link between the Series Six CPU and other programmable controllers, Workmaster-based software, host computers or process-control systems.
The module provides two independently configurable serial ports. Both ports support RS-232 and RS-422 operation, while Port 1 also supports active or passive 20 mA current-loop communication. DIP-switch selections establish data rate, protocol, character format, parity and port behavior before the application is placed in service.
IC600BF948 can operate with CCM master, slave or peer functions and with RTU slave protocol according to the selected configuration. Cable construction, shielding, grounding and port pinout are part of the installation record; the exact CPU control module and firmware context must also be retained when program upload/download functions are required.

Port 1 and Port 2 can be assigned different electrical and protocol settings, allowing one module to serve two independent serial links.
RS-232 suits point-to-point connections within its electrical limits; RS-422 supports differential signaling, and Port 1 current loop supports compatible active or passive equipment.
The device list in the GE manual includes other Series Six CCM hardware, Series One DCUs, Series Three DCMs, Workmaster software, host computers and process-control systems.
Cable pairs must be kept matched for transmit and receive, with shielding, grounding and transient protection selected for the route and installation environment.
Choose interface, data rate, protocol, parity, data bits and stop bits from the documented link requirements.
Use the manual pinout for the selected interface; do not infer a cable from connector gender alone.
Confirm the compatible CCU5 and firmware level when external program upload or download is required.
Verify transmit/receive activity, message retries, timeout behavior and application data without permitting an uncontrolled write to CPU memory.
Yes. Both ports support RS-232 and RS-422; the active/passive 20 mA current-loop interface is available on Port 1 only.
The module supports rates up to 19.2 kbps. Current-loop operation on Port 1 is limited to 4800 bps.
Depending on the DIP-switch configuration, it supports CCM master, slave or peer operation and RTU slave operation.
RS-232, RS-422 and current-loop links use different signal assignments, shielding practices and device connections even when the front connector looks similar.
Confirm both port configurations, then test message transfer, timeout/retry behavior and the intended CPU data access with production equipment placed in a safe state.
