GE Fanuc IC600BF923 High-Density Sink Output Module
Series Six I/O

GE Fanuc IC600BF923 High-Density Sink Output Module

Rack-mounted I/O Active-low DC switching Optically isolated output path

Product Overview

The GE Fanuc IC600BF923 is a high-density sink output module for the Series Six PLC platform. It installs in a Series Six I/O rack or an I/O slot of a Series Six Plus CPU rack and provides an optically isolated path between the backplane I/O bus and field DC loads.

The module supplies 32 active-low outputs arranged as four groups of eight. All four groups are normally updated during one I/O scan, while a single common return serves the 32 connected loads. Individual LEDs show the on/off state of each output at the faceplate.

Two jumper selections define how the module handles CPU data and loss-of-system conditions. Output data can be normal or inverted, and the outputs can either turn off or retain the last commanded state during a reset or Series Six system fault when user power remains available.

Output Logic and Fault-State Control

Two jumper-defined operating choices

  • JP1 position 1-2 disables all outputs during power-down, reset or a Series Six system fault.
  • JP1 position 2-3 holds the last commanded output state until valid data returns or user power is removed.
  • JP2 position 1-2 selects normal operation: a logical 1 in the Output Status Table turns the active-low output on.
  • JP2 position 2-3 selects inverted data, reversing the relationship between status-table data and output state.
All outputs initialize off when user power is first applied, regardless of the selected JP1 behavior.

Field Wiring and Installation

IC600BF923 typical user output connections for 10-50 VDC loads
Typical output connections for mixed DC load voltages sharing a common negative point.

Rack preparation

Before insertion, set the backplane DIP switches behind the selected card slot to reserve 32 consecutive bits in the CPU Output Status Table. Configure JP1 and JP2 on the circuit board before installing the board and attaching the faceplate edge connector.

Load-supply connections

Connected load supplies must share a common negative point. Terminal 33 receives the lowest voltage present on the module, terminal 34 is the CLP connection, and terminal 36 is the common return.

Inductive-load clamp

For inductive loads, connect CLP terminal 34 to the positive side of the highest voltage supply used by any load on the module.

Product FAQ

What rack and address preparation is required before installing IC600BF923?

IC600BF923 can be installed in a Series Six I/O rack or in an I/O slot of a Series Six Plus CPU rack. The backplane DIP switches behind the slot must reserve 32 consecutive bits in the CPU Output Status Table before the module is inserted.

How can IC600BF923 react to a Series Six reset or system fault?

JP1 selects the response. Position 1-2 turns all outputs off, while position 2-3 retains the last commanded states until valid data returns or user power is removed. Applying user power initializes every output off.

When should IC600BF923 use normal or inverted output data?

JP2 selects normal or inverted data handling. In normal mode, a logical 1 in the Output Status Table turns the active-low output on. When IC600BF923 drives a high-density input module, both modules should use the same inversion mode so the transferred bit values are not reversed.

How are mixed-voltage loads connected to IC600BF923?

Loads may use supplies between 10 and 50 VDC when all supplies share one common negative point. Connect terminal 33 to the lowest voltage present and, for suppression of inductive loads, connect CLP terminal 34 to the highest positive supply voltage used.

Can a higher revision suffix replace a lower IC600BF923 revision?

The GE Fanuc ordering note identifies equipment with the same IC600BF923 catalog number and a higher alpha suffix as a direct replacement for the same catalog number with a lower alpha suffix. The complete suffix on the installed nameplate should still be recorded before replacement.
