KINETIX 5100 · COMPACT 400V SERVO DRIVES
Allen-Bradley 2198-E4004-ERS / 2198-E4007-ERS are compact Kinetix 5100 servo drives for low-power EtherNet/IP motion axes. They provide closed-loop motor control within the same controller environment while retaining separate catalog identities for the two axis duties.
Allen-Bradley 2198-E4004-ERS / 2198-E4007-ERS provide the compact Kinetix 5100 form factor for two neighboring axis duties. Selection is completed by keeping the exact model with its motor, controller definition and braking method, rather than copying one compact-drive configuration to the other.

The two Ethernet ports support several physical routes, but each route must preserve one unambiguous controller connection to the drive.
Use one port for the upstream controller path and the other to continue the line to the next EtherNet/IP device.
Use both ports to close the device-level ring and verify that the controller recognizes the drive as a ring participant.
For a star network, connect the drive to the switch and keep the unused drive port out of the field wiring path.
Motor power, motor feedback and regenerative braking are separate circuits even though they meet inside the same compact drive.
Route the inverter output only to the assigned motor phases and keep it separate from network and feedback cabling.
Return motor position through MFB so the drive can compare measured movement with the controller command.
The internal shunt path handles regenerative energy for these compact sizes without being used as a motor or control connection.
Match the motor demand to the continuous and peak current instead of choosing only by physical size. E4004 provides 1.60 A continuous output, while E4007 provides 3.19 A continuous output.
Both catalog numbers use the internal-shunt arrangement. If an external passive shunt is required for the application, follow the external-shunt wiring procedure rather than assuming the factory jumper arrangement can remain unchanged.
Use the 15-pin MFB connector for motor feedback and the 10-pin AUX connector for auxiliary feedback. These are separate circuits, so identify the cable function before terminating the drive.
The power stage uses 342...528 V rms three-phase AC and the control circuit uses 24 V DC. Plan both feeds because the Ethernet connection carries neither motor power nor control power.
Yes, their two 10/100 Mbps EtherNet/IP ports support linear, ring and star network layouts. Configure the selected topology in the controller project while retaining the exact E4004 or E4007 device entry.
The models share connectors and supply range but differ in power, continuous current, peak current and power loss. A complete catalog number keeps the motor selection and cabinet thermal calculation tied to the correct drive.
Technical enquiry support checks the requested drive code, connected motor information and required accessories before the commercial offer is prepared.
