Spanning two ends of the Kinetix 6000 IAM range, the Allen-Bradley 2094-AC05-M01-S / 2094-AC32-M05-S combine a 230 V converter, a shared-rail connection and one safe-off inverter axis. Each unit turns three-phase supply into a 325 V DC bus before its integrated inverter produces controlled motor power, but their converter capacity and physical frames serve very different rail loads.
For cabinet planning, 2094-AC05-M01-S / 2094-AC32-M05-S must remain tied to their own motor, rail length and regenerative-energy arrangement. The smaller M01 unit fits the narrow IAM frame, whereas the M05 unit occupies the large frame and feeds a substantially higher current axis; equal voltage class and SERCOS control do not make the two catalog numbers interchangeable.

The Allen-Bradley 2094-AC05-M01-S / 2094-AC32-M05-S place a converter and one inverter in the same IAM, but each section must be sized for its separate job.
The converter charges the common DC bus and must carry the combined demand of the integrated inverter and every active module mounted downstream.
The integrated inverter controls only its attached motor; it does not divide its output current among the other modules on the rail.
The selected IAM frame fixes the compatible power-rail family and cabinet width before downstream modules are arranged.
Moving from M01 to M05 changes axis current, converter capacity, physical size and thermal loading, not merely the printed power label.
The Allen-Bradley 2094-AC05-M01-S / 2094-AC32-M05-S return deceleration energy to the shared DC bus, where the configured shunt path limits further bus rise.
When the motor regenerates, inverter current flows back to the DC rail instead of continuing through the normal motoring direction.
The IAM shunt circuit switches braking energy into its resistor path when the bus reaches the control threshold.
Energy from every axis contributes to the same rail, so braking duty is evaluated across the motion group rather than at only one motor.
If the internal path cannot absorb the calculated cycle energy, the rail design adds compatible shunt hardware with suitable resistance and heat removal.
No. When specifying 2094-AC05-M01-S / 2094-AC32-M05-S, they differ in converter capacity, inverter current, frame width and heat output. Recheck the rail, motor, protection and enclosure whenever the IAM size changes.
On 2094-AC05-M01-S / 2094-AC32-M05-S, the M05 catalog number needs the large IAM envelope and matching rail. Cabinet width and cable clearances therefore change with the module, not just the motor rating.
Before wiring 2094-AC05-M01-S / 2094-AC32-M05-S, not always. Compare the complete machine regeneration cycle with the IAM and rail braking capacity, then add external hardware only when the calculated energy requires it.
While commissioning 2094-AC05-M01-S / 2094-AC32-M05-S, yes. The IAM starts the rail and the highest-utilization axis modules are arranged nearest it. Empty connectors are filled after the active modules.
For 2094-AC05-M01-S / 2094-AC32-M05-S, sum the continuous and peak demands of the complete axis group and compare them with the chosen IAM converter. Rail length must also provide the physical slots required by every module.
Within a 2094-AC05-M01-S / 2094-AC32-M05-S installation, the -S interface is a hardwired chain, so an open or incorrectly terminated link prevents the expected enable state. Keep safety wiring separate from optical command and motor-power conductors.
